Overview

The VNA Health Group's Award-Winning Home Health Nursing Residency Program

Learn the craft of Home Health Nursing from some of the most knowledgeable nurses in the industry.

 

Winner of an educational excellence award by Chief Learning Officer Magazine, our Home Health Nursing Residency Program is a premiere program for developing the next generation of home health nurses. Nurse Residents receive hands-on, in-the-field learning and mentorship and training for an experienced preceptor.

 

The goal of this Residency is to enable newly graduated nurses to independently manage a patient caseload in an approximate timeframe of 8-12 months. Many of our residents have gone on to become preceptors or managers at the VNA.

 

We are seeking recent BSNs who have passed the NCLEX to join us in our Ocean County coverage area, headquartered in Toms River, NJ.

 

Responsibilities

 

Here is the pathway of learning and responsibilities for our Nurse Residents:

  1. The resident will develop a relationship with his/her preceptor and admininster skills and compassion as taught by the preceptor.
  2. Develop a plan of care, based on the needs of the patient, with multiple disease processes and co morbidities 
  3. Document the patient’s condition in HomeCareHome Base and update care plans and outcomes
  4. Identify teaching needs for the patients and their families and plan appropriate strategies 
  5. Provide and follow case management model of care
  6. Adheres to agency infection control and safety policies
  7. Serve as an ambassador for the VNAHG and future residency programs, recruiting when necessary and speaking at informational sessions on campus

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for a Nurse Residency position at the VNAHG will have the following qualifications:

 

  1. Recently graduated (2022 or 2023) with a Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing school; and is a Registered Nurse (RN)
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  3. Strong computer skills, especially mobile devices, preferred
  4. Emotional Intelligence. Our patients and families come from a wide array of backgrounds and each has their own unique experiences
  5. Excellent organizational skills
  6. Car and valid driver’s license
  7. Lives in commutable distance within Ocean County
